Every letter you type burns out. Permanently.

OVERWRITE is a typing survival game with one cruel rule: every keystroke drains the key you pressed. Keys heat up, blacken, and die — and they never come back.

Words fall toward your core. Type them to destroy them. That part you already know how to do. The part you don't: the better you play, the faster you destroy your own keyboard.

The turn

At some point — usually around ninety seconds in — E dies.

Suddenly you can't type any word containing an E. More than half the dictionary is gone. Words you can no longer spell turn hostile: they glow red, strike through, and keep falling, and there is nothing you can type to stop them.

So you stop choosing targets by what's closest, and start choosing by what you can still spell.

Then A dies. Then O. Then I.

Every run ends the same way and never for the same reason: you run out of vowels. English becomes unspellable and the words keep coming. Watch the VOWELS counter — it's your real health bar.

What you can do about it

• PURGE (Spacebar) — destroy one hostile word. It costs 10% of the remaining charge in every living key. Sometimes it saves the run. Sometimes it kills four keys at once and ends it.
• Cells — rare cyan words. Typing one pours charge back into your three most-depleted keys. It buys time. It does not resurrect anything.

Three breaches and your core is gone. But the core is rarely what kills you.

Modes

• RANDOM RUN — reshuffles every time. Different words, different order, different collapse.
• DAILY CHALLENGE — everyone gets the same words today. Same letters, same pressure, same seed. Compare honestly.
